PAWS for Life Rescue is a small, nonprofit organization dedicated to the care and rehoming of dogs in need. While we do have a small shelter facility, the majority of our dogs are placed in carefully selected foster homes. Because of this limited capacity, we are typically unable to accommodate same-day or next-day intakes.
Please allow up to one week for us to review your surrender application. After this, we may require a behavior assessment and/or additional time to secure the most suitable foster home or shelter placement for your dog. Choosing the right environment is essential to ensure the best possible care and transition.
When surrendering your dog to PAWS for Life Rescue, you will be required to sign over ownership and provide all veterinary records, along with a medical record release authorization. We provide adoptive families with redacted medical records to ensure continuity of care.
As a nonprofit, we kindly encourage surrendering parties to consider making a donation to help cover the costs of sheltering, fostering, medical care, and training. We understand this may not be possible for everyone. Additionally, we greatly appreciate any comfort items you can donate—such as kennels, beds, leashes, or toys—that can help ease your dog’s transition to their new environment. Any donated items will stay with your dog.
If your need to rehome your dog urgently, please complete this form and follow up with a text message to (587) 474 2281 to let us know this situation is time-sensitive, in addition.
