Lend a Paw

PAWS depends on the service of volunteers to ensure the best quality of life for our rescues. We are always seeking new volunteers to assist our daily operations. 


How you can lend a paw: 

  • Provide transportation of supplies and dogs
  • Enrich the lives of our rescues through play and walks
  • Volunteer at PAWS adoption and fundraising events

long-term volunteer positions

Volunteer Coordinator

  • Accept and review volunteer applications, host volunteer orientations, and schedule volunteers for walking & PAWS events.  

Foster Home Coordinator

  • Contact foster homes to take on new dogs, support foster homes with necessities for current dogs, inform homes of meet and greets, set up vet appointments, and participate in other events where the fostered dogs need to be.  

Fundraising Coordinator

  • Create and plan fundraising opportunities and events (online and in-person), and organize and set up adoption events. 
  • Help build a fundraising committee to implement ideas. 
  • Currently, PAWS does Flower Sales, 50/50 Raffles, Chocolate Bar Sales and Auctions. We are looking to expand and create new opportunities. 

Enrichment Coordinator

  • Work with volunteers to coordinate: walking groups, create enrichment areas for dogs at the facility, cuddle programs, and train dogs with advice from trainers.   

Medical Coordinator

  • Book vet appointments, confirm with the foster coordinator and adoptive families, and ensure dogs are up to date on vaccinations and microchipped, spayed and neutered.

Animal Transport

  • Drive dogs to and from vet appointments from our facility in NE Edmonton to Brintnell Veterinarian Clinic (North Edmonton), Edmonton Spay and Neuter (North Edmonton) and Crestwood Veterinary Clinic (West Edmonton).  
  • Drop offs: 7:30-8:30am Pickups: 4-5pm
